Reparations Library (RLib) is dedicated to the dissemination of information as it pertains to African American genealogical research. I believe reparations to African American descendants of slaves in the United States will occur at some point. The amount, the how, the when, the who must be led by knowledgeable African Americans, and informed, sensible and compassionate non-African Americans.
The African American as an ethnic group is a social construct; DNA testing will most likely serve of very little or no use in confirming the African American identify of those that seek reparations. This means that genealogy, documented lineage, traceable ancestry via public records and the like, will play a major role in proving access to monetary reparations. I strongly believe that public libraries and publically-funded librarians, genealogist and/or researchers should play a large part in assisting to trace lineage.
